What I'm doing next
I'm going to go to the pier that located between on the dead end St. of Buffalo and Water st. I will start recording on the winding steel thing and then wind my way down and end at Water St. and Erie St. The pier is the place were I was able to find more sounds and pictures while on my two treks. What I want to do is take pictures of ONLY shadows and text that's not legible. In order to do that, the pier has actual visual points of billboards, and signs that I can use. It also has light sources as there's a bar and housing in that area.
In terms of sound, I will focus more on the pier itself along with any trails that I find next to the pier.

Ten Questions
Looking at what I want to do with this blog, I've started thinking about what I want to do for my 3rd trek.
1. Are there any alleys or places near the pier that have unique sound qualities?
2. Is there a way that I can capture the sounds of the nearby street AND the water?
3. Where is the highest point that I can shoot and record sounds from?
4. Where can I find the most interesting sound on the pier?
5. What places on the pier have I overlooked?
6. Are there any places where one can make a complete 180 degree turn and be cast in light and darkness?
7. What sounds can I record from near the pier that have never been heard before?
8. Is there enough light in order to capture the shadows successfully?
9. Are there any places that have sounds that people disregard? ( Like tree branches being blown in the wind, bridge noises.)
10. What can I do with the pier and bridges overlooking the water?

Life
The thing that has happened to me is that when I've been feeling really down on each of my treks, something comes along and makes me feel better. Most times its the sun, or the sun's rays. I don't know why but the sun usually makes me feel better when the weather has been rather blah. What ends up happening is that after I see the sun, I usually then perk up and start taking more and more pictures or sound as I'm smiling to myself. My attitude changes to "I'm still alive and hopefully I'll be able to see more sunrises and sunsets." And that's what I think really helped with these two blogs. The fact that the weather was may have been blah but that the sun came out and reminded me of life.
Because, sometimes I really need to remember that.

Good things come to those who wait
I had three surprises that entered when I was walking for sound and pictures. I often found myself having to stop what I was doing in order to check something else out. I originally was getting another sound when I heard the bells. Once I heard them, I stopped and ran to get the sound. Later that same day, I actually got sound from people talking, partying and watching the Badger game that was on that Saturday(?) or Sunday. I had no plan to record anything, but once I saw all those people, I knew that something had to be recorded. I even had fun when I was getting food. I was on my photo finding mission, when I realized that I needed to get food. It wasn't until I was sitting outside that I saw these great shadows and a nice reflection of the sun on my table. So I ate my soup and took pictures of it all. And some made it into my little movies.
Sunshine
I know that I've probably scared some of you off, but I didn't mean too. Not all walking in Milwaukee ends in a creepy man following you. Sometimes it can become actually fun.
On my first day of getting sound, I was walking around when my headphones picked up this bell noise. As I was walking closer to it, I realized that it was the bridge to rises up when boats needed to pass. As soon as I realized it was that, I just started running as fast as my legs could carry me. ( I may have two blocks but those two blocks were one of the longest two blocks that I've ever had to run.) Once I got there, I could hear the bells as they rung over and over. The thing is that as soon as I got closer to them, I realized that the bells were ringing different things. One bell was ringing non-stop while the other one was ringing like a fire truck. I actually got excited because I was able to capture that and the cars starting up. I felt pretty proud of myself for getting that.
My second day of my picture taking, I was gazing at the bridge on Water St. and St. Paul and I was angry. I don't know what I was angry about, oh wait. Now I remember. The creepy man. So I was on this bridge, and I was just thinking about how I attract certain people when I looked up and saw this sunset. The sun was slowly dropping into the trees and I could see the rays play with the sky and the clouds. Instead of just light blue, I saw violet, orange and white. I was all alone and I could see the sun shining like it did when I was in Hawaii once. And I started to feel better, because I could hear the sound of the water below the bridge and see the brightness. And I loved that day and the pictures I took of that sunset.

The creepy man
As you may know, I've taken several other treks around Water st and each trek has been amazing. There's been some good and bad and I think that I should probably explain what's happened to me in the last two treks.
First the bad things. When I did my first two blogs, I wanted to capture sound of Milwaukee and take pictures of shadows and text. I love taking pictures and I've always wondered what Milwaukee has sounded like. I honestly had thought that the technology would give me problems when it turned out to be just people.
On my first trek, I had headphones and microphones secured to my head and body. At first, people just saw me and then went on their merry little way. But then an hour later, I started getting people who started either A.) getting louder with their conversation or B.) Shut up completely. With the A group, I would be walking along the Buffalo and Water St. pier, when they would come up and start talking. And as they'd get closer to me, they'd start talking really loud about drinking or sex. Which then messed up my sound, because I didn't and still don't feel comfortable putting nature sounds mixed in with someone whose purposely acting inappropriate. With group B it was the total opposite, because I would be sitting down and the group would be talking quietly. I could hear little bits about how someone was sick, and as soon as they saw the microphones, NADA! They shut down and wouldn't say anything until I left. Or they'd point to their friends.
Now thinking of it, I can understand why they got a little leery. However, I wasn't taking photos of them, and pointing at me is not cool and not funny. It's odd. But not as odd as that man on my second trek.
On my second blog, I've posted pictures and movies of shadows/text. The thing is that while taking these photos, I had a man actually ask me about what I was doing. I was taking pictures of the Milwaukee Public Market sign, when this man stopped in his tracks and just looked at me. He then shouted at me from across the street, "HEY! YOU VISITING??"
Me: "No, I live here in Milwaukee." Now, I thought that I was speaking loud enough. Apparently, he hadn't heard me and actually waited for me to cross the street to ask me again if I was visiting. When I told him that I was just doing this for fun, he then said okay and then followed me into an alley that I had walked down. I don't know he would follow me and he was probably just trying to pick me up, but that was creepy. I felt trapped, I started lying to him about how I had only so much time before I had to catch my bus. I just felt really disturbed by him and he finally got the message once I finally found a group of people.
